Steps in Management Planning
THE VALUES and stakeholders in and around Roebuck Bay are extremely numerous and diverse. A strategic, collaborative and encompassing approach is required to ensure that all involved parties are able to work together in a coordinated fashion and that processes and outcomes across any one plan are harmonious with the whole.

The steps in management planning achieved by the RBWG since 2004 are:
- 2004 Designing an integrated planning process inclusive of Yawuru and the community
- 2004 Raising awareness of shorebird conservation and protection
- 2005 Mapping community values for Roebuck Bay
- 2006 Developing a Roebuck Bay Issues Paper
- 2008 Providing input for a Roebuck Bay Ecological Character Description (baseline data necessary for managing a Ramsar Site) (in progress)
- 2009 Producing a Lyngbya (blue green algae) Contingency Plan for Roebuck Bay
- 2009 Producing Roebuck Bay Interim Management Guidelines (brochures)
- 2009 Developing a Management/Implementation Plan for the Northern Shores (Crab Creek) of Roebuck Bay (in progress)
- 2009 Developing a Preliminary Draft Roebuck Bay Ramsar Site Management Plan (in progress).
- 2009 Completed a Management/Implementation Plan for the Northern Shores (Crab Creek) of Roebuck Bay.

- 2011 With Native Title now determined in the Broome area, the Yawuru people, the Traditional Owners, are currently planning to manage the Yawuru Conservation Estate. A Yawuru Cultural Management Plan is being developed as the foundation for the development of joint management plans for the terrestrial and proposed marine park. The joint management plans will be developed with key stakeholders including the Roebuck Bay Working Group, the Shire of Broome and WA Department of Environment and Conservation.
